LEAP Spotlight: Lt Col Daniel Schoeni

From August 2017 to August 2019, Spanish LEAP scholar and JAG officer Lt Col Daniel Schoeni was the Chief of Security Cooperation at 12 AF (AFSOUTH)/JA, and participated in 17 TDYs held in Latin America. While in Latin America, he taught several modules on trial advocacy in Spanish: opening statements, cross-examination, and closing statements. Additionally, he worked with small groups and provided the participants with feedback as they practiced the techniques that were presented in the lectures. Schoeni recently published an article in the Reporter, a legal journal, on AFSOUTH’s Role in Peru’s Transition to an Adversarial Military Justice System.
