The Air Force Culture and Language Center’s Language Division is launching a new program to showcase the Language Enabled Airman Program Scholars and their highly specialized culture and language training. The program, called “LEAP Live,” will allow LEAP Scholars to deliver course projects live online in the AFCLC LEAP Facebook Group each month beginning on 30 November 21.

“As part of their training, LEAP Scholars participate in online language courses called eMentors that target growth in listening, speaking, reading and writing in their target language,” said Ms. Gloria Milner, Program Manager, eMentor Language Training. “The eMentor courses are taught by native-level language instructors, and course schedules are extremely flexible to accommodate LEAP Scholars’ demanding schedule, which is key to its success.”

One of the courses under the eMentor program is the Special Project Course, which facilitates the development of target language skills via research on a topic of potential interest to peers, the larger Air Force community, and senior leaders. LEAP Scholars submit a topic and abstract of their research project in English but deliver it in their target language.

Beginning Tuesday, 30 Nov.  AFCLC’s Language Division will showcase the LEAP program by allowing Scholars to present their SPC research project live online in the AFCLC LEAP Facebook Group twice monthly. The following rules must be followed to participate in LEAP Live:
• Maintain principles and standards of professional behavior and communication
• Mute mics while others are speaking
• Hold questions until the end of the brief; use the chat feature to submit your questions to the briefer at that time
• Follow proper OPSEC procedures/guidance and remain cognizant that Facebook is an unclassified medium

Failure to abide by these rules will cause you to be removed from the briefing and considered for removal from the LEAP private Facebook page.

The AFCLC LEAP Facebook Group is a private Facebook group available only to LEAP Scholars. If you are a LEAP Scholar and would like to join the group, log into your personal Facebook page and search for USAF Language Enabled Airman Program to request to join the group. You will be admitted once your LEAP status is verified. If you have questions, please email AFCLC.LEAP.Admin@us.af.mil.
