MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Following a rigorous selection board process this summer, the Air Force Culture and Language Center selected 330 Airmen and Guardians in 39 languages from 1,158 applications for the Language Enabled Airman Program. Of the 1,091 eligible Air Force applications, 166 officers and 140 enlisted were accepted. With 67 eligible Space Force applications, there were 19 officers and five enlisted accepted.
For the 2024 cycle, the top 10 languages accepted were Spanish, Chinese-Mandarin, French, Russian, Tagalog, Japanese, Korean, German, Arabic-Modern Standard, and Portuguese-Brazilian.
Participation in LEAP is voluntary, and the application process is highly competitive. To become a LEAP scholar, participants must demonstrate proficiency in a foreign language specified on the Air Force Strategic Language List, receive endorsement from their unit commander and supervisor, and compete via a rigorous board selection process.
AFCLC is proud to announce those Airmen and Guardians who met these rigorous requirements and are now members of this prestigious career-spanning program.
