The China Aerospace Studies Institute (CASI) joined NCUSCR's Nationwide Live Event on China on Tues 19 October with its local portion via webinar with former DASD Sbragia.
LtCol (Ret) Chad Sbragia served as the inaugural Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for China until 2021. In this capacity, he was responsible for advising senior leadership within the Department of Defense on all policy matters pertaining to the development and implementation of defense strategies, plans, policies, and bilateral security relations for China.
Mr. Sbragia is currently a Research Staff Member at the Institute for Defense Analyses. Previously, he served as the Director of the China Research Group for the U.S. Marine Corps 2018-2019, and the Deputy Director of the China Strategic Focus Group, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, from 2011 to 2018. Mr. Sbragia served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1985-2012, including an assignment as the U.S. Marine Attaché, U.S. Embassy Beijing, and has also served as the Country Director for China, Taiwan, and Mongolia. CASI's Program was followed by the National Committee's program with CNN host and best-selling author Fareed Zakaria as the featured speaker. For over fifty years, the National Committee on United States-China Relations (@NCUSCR) has been the leading national, non-partisan, nonprofit public affairs organization devoted to building constructive and durable relationships between the United States and Greater China.
