Friends of CASI,
As we close out 2024, we are excited to report on another busy quarter and look forward to another busy year coming up.   We are hoping to add a couple more people to the team in 2025, more on that later in the year.  We are already booking out to July and August for our Mobile Education Teams, and warfighter support plan, so it will be a busy 2025 indeed (and that’s before the PLA has a say in things).  And we have plenty of research underway and planned for 2025.

We would also like to recognize our own Josh Baughman, who was awarded the Military Cyber Professionals Gold Order of Thor Medal, the highest MCPA  level award recognizing “excellence and the greatest contributions to the military cyber community.  Well done Josh!

Here is wishing you all a 新年快乐!

Personnel:

We’d like to welcome our new Superintendent of Education, MSgt Stephen Loeh, who joined us this quarter. A career Chinese-Mandarin language analyst, he has served in various analytic roles supporting Air Force missions and most recently served as Senior Analyst for the Pacific Tactics and Adversary Studies Element.

CASI’s PLA Fundamentals Course:

We continue to have great interest in, and turn out for, our three-day PLA Fundamentals Course.  This quarter we held well-attended mobile education team courses at Fort Meade, MD, Joint Base Lewis-McChord in WA, Nellis AFB, NV, and an in-house course at National Defense University (NDU) in Washington, D.C.

The next NDU in-house PLA Fundamentals course will be 24-26 February, 2025.  If you are interested in attending that course, please sign up at:

If you are interested in attending a future PLA Fundamentals course at NDU (held quarterly), please sign up using the following link: https://forms.office.com/r/A5UaLWXuuz

If you are interested in hosting a Mobile Education Team (MET) version of the PLA Fundamentals course, let us know and we will do our best to find open space on the calendar to support your organization.  Please be aware that due to high demand, we are currently booked out through FY 2025, so we are already looking at late 2025 and early 2026 dates for our next availability. The PLA Fundamentals course is free to attend (TDY costs only if traveling to NDU or TDY costs for the CASI SMEs traveling for the MTT version) and open to all DoD and U.S. government employees, Allies, as well as civilian contractors working for the DoD.  There is no security clearance requirement.
