The Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held in Beijing from October 26 to 29, 2020.
There were 198 members of the Central Committee and 166 alternate members of the Central Committee. Members of the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and responsible comrades from relevant parties attended the meeting as non-voting delegates. Some grassroots comrades, experts and scholars from the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China also attended the meeting as nonvoting delegates.
The meeting was run by the central government. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee, delivered a speech.
The plenary session listened to and discussed the work report of Xi Jinping entrusted by the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, and reviewed and approved the "Recommendations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Formulating the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development and Long-Term Goals for 2035." Xi Jinping gave an explanation to the plenary meeting on the "Recommendations (Discussion Draft)".
