Description: As a Course Director and instructor for the Contingency Wartime Planning Course (CWPC), Joint Air Operations Planning Course (JAOPC), or JTF Staff Basic Course (JTFSBC), field grade officers lead all aspects of course design, student support, instructional systems design of all curricula, instructor qualification and management, and annual planning of $3.2M AFERB-funded course quotas in coordination with the HAF Course Sponsor. Course Directors must maintain a high degree of professional image, be evaluated annually as a platform instructor, and maintain specialized knowledge in relevant course material through faculty development, technical education, support of major exercises, experiments, doctrine development symposiums, Air Force Lessons Learned collections, and other developmental activities. Course Directors provide curriculum oversight on courseware related to subjects such as:  National Security Strategy; Joint Warfare; Joint Air Operations Plans; Operational Art/Design/Approach; Joint All Domain Operations; Agile Combat Employment; Logistics Planning and Operations; Five Paragraph Mission-Type Orders; and APEX/JOPES. Course Directors regularly interface with MAJCOM Functional Area Managers, Training Quota Managers, HAF Course Sponsors, and other educational and PCE institutions including the International Officer School, Air Force Special Operations University, and the 505th Command & Control Wing.

Eligibility: Captains [USAF only], Majors [USAF only], and Lieutenant Colonels [USAF only] with an outstanding military record of performance, excellent communication skills, and completed rank appropriate PME (by any method). Operations specialty and recent joint/CAOC/AOC/JOC, or other deployed staff experience within previous 36 months highly desired.  Demonstrated proficiency with the Joint Planning Process (JP 5.0) or Joint Planning Process for Air (JPPA) is critical for success and highly desired. Prior instructor/curriculum development experience is desired. Master’s degree highly desired for CGOs; required for FGOs.

LeMay Center For Doctrine Development & Education, Warfighting Education Directorate (WE)

Organizational Mission: The Warfighting Education (WE) Directorate provides focused Professional Continuing Education (PCE) and General/Flag Officer education for the Air Force and Joint Staff. WE plans, develops, integrates and executes PCE courseware oriented toward force generation, deployment, and sustainment (Contingency Wartime Planner Course), Air Component staff planning (Joint Air Operations Planner Course), Joint Task Force (JTF) Headquarters planning and operations (JTF Staff Basic Course), and tailored support to Numbered Air Force, Component Major Command staffs, Guard/Reserve and Combatant Command staffs through mobile education teams. Additionally, on behalf of the CSAF and CJCS, WE manages and executes five General/Flag Officer courses at the O7 - O9 level.
