International Officer School – Flight Commander, SOS Preparatory Course (81T0) Photo Details / Download Hi-Res Location: Maxwell AFB, AL 36112-6426 Tour Length: 3 years Description: Directs, plans and executes a seven-week SOS Preparatory Course for international military students from 83 partner nations annually. Leads, mentors, and instructs 65 international military students annually on U.S. culture, U.S. democratic institutions and ideals, leadership, communication, and U.S. military studies. Supports the design and coordination of a 747-hour academic curriculum focused on preparing international students for in-resident PME. Assists in the planning and execution of Air University’s Field Studies Program to ensure international students develop an understanding of democratic ideals and respect of individual human rights. Exposure to cultures all over the world without leaving Maxwell AFB. Eligibility: Applicant must be a Captain [USAF only] who has completed Squadron Officer School in residence. Applicant must possess excellent communications and organizational skills. Applicants will represent the U.S. to hundreds of international officers and must exemplify military bearing and appearance standards and have an outstanding military record. Security Cooperation and international/cross cultural experience is desired, but not mandatory.
