ARLINGTON, Virginia -- The Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) will host "AFRL Heritage: 100 Years of Science and Technology." The event will take place at the Basic Research Innovation and Collaboration Center, 4075 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 350, in Arlington, Va., on Thursday, 16 March 2017, from 0900 to 1500.
This year has been designated as the Year of our Heritage at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), celebrating a legacy of 100 years of excellence in science and technology, beginning with the establishment of the first Air Service laboratory at McCook Field, outside Dayton, Ohio in 1917.
As the manager of AFRL’s basic research mission, which provides the foundation for the technology of the future, AFOSR will kick off the year-long celebration by hosting this open-house event.
Notable thought leaders will speak about the historical value and future importance of science and technology for the Air Force.
This will be followed by an “Open House” poster session showcasing AFOSR’s relevant, responsive and revolutionary basic research programs and contributions to AFRL’s science and technology legacy. A sample of the topics include: Stealth, Maser/Laser, Space Situational Awareness, Advanced Energetics Science, Human Computer Interface, Hypersonics, Quantum, AI & Autonomy, Metamaterials, Biophysics to Human Performance, Programmable Materials and Synthetic Biology.
