Goodfellow partners with ASU

SAN ANGELO, Texas --  The 17th Training Wing and Angelo State University signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the San Angelo Independent School District Administration Building April 27.

The MOU allows Airmen to transfer their Air University college credits toward a criminal justice bachelor’s degree at ASU.

“Air University and ASU are both accredited by the same entity so that’s why it’s a no brainer,” said Susan Williams, Affiliated Military and Veterans Services director. “It’s something that we need to do for our Airmen to get them streamlined for their degree.”

It’s good for ASU because it brings diversity to the classroom and allows students to learn more about each other, said Williams.

The project was made possible through Maj. Pedro Jimenez, 17th Security Forces Commander, who personally brought the idea to light.

“This MOU was made to emphasize the importance of partnerships between the community and the U.S. Air Force,” said Jimenez. It enables Air Force members with the opportunity to attain a higher education degree.

The MOU applies to all Air Force members.

“This MOU benefits Security Forces, Office of Special Investigations or any Air Force members who possess a Community College of the Air Force degree in Criminal Justice,” said Jimenez.

Those with the CCAF can earn up-to 60 credits towards a Bachelor’s degree and save about two years of school.

The bachelor’s degree can be completed via distance learning or in-residence.
