Maj. Gen. Michael Rothstein, Air University vice commander and acting commander, presented Dr. Angelle Khachadoorian with the Award for Exemplary Civilian Service, Nov. 1, 2017.

This award is presented to an individual or group to recognize them for outstanding service supporting a command mission for at least one year, or a single act that significantly contributed to a command mission.

“I am so happy that we get to recognize the work Dr. Khachadoorian has done for Air University,” said Rothstein. “She really set the foundation to brining the faculty senate together and stood-up to say what really needed to be said to get the job done, even though it may not have been in her own personal best interest or may not be what people wanted to hear, but she chose that path to lead, and I appreciate all her hard work for making those tough decisions.”

Dr. Khachadoorian received the award for her performance during her three-year-term as the faculty senate president between October 2015 and August 2017.  She was the first person to hold this position and set the precedent for future presidents.

One of her major accomplishments was providing critical perspectives, advice and advocacy on behalf of the faculty in various Air University meetings and working groups.  Additionally, she improved decision-making, increased the faculty’s voice and re-established academic tenure at Air University’s campuses.

“I am so grateful for receiving this award, and I just have to thank everyone who really stood by me and understood that what I was doing was no easy feat,” Khachadoorian said. “I also just want to thank Gen. Kwast for giving the faculty senate a voice and an opportunity to present faculty insights, which was an opportunity that hadn’t exited yet.”

Her accomplishments and dedication to Air University during her time as the faculty senate presidents reflects a great esteem for herself and the U.S. Air Force.
