MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Early last week, AAFES began the process of fixing up the old car wash located on Maxwell AFB next to the shoppette.
Instead of demolishing the facility, engineers are adding to the current building and expanding capabilities.
“The expansion will allow us to add vacuums and build a tunnel carwash, to provide a better service for our military and their families,” said Bennie Taylor, AAFES assistant manager.
With this new expansion, the vacuums will be a free service and there will be an attendant on duty during operational hours to help customers.
The construction is scheduled to be done in late July to early August of this year.
As of now, individuals should be cautious when driving around the area until demolition and construction is completed, he added.
More information will be provided to Maxwell’s community as the car wash is close to completion.
