WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. met with the Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces Lt. Gen. Mohamed Farid Hegazi Oct. 15 in Washington D.C.
The two leaders discussed challenges and security concerns in the Middle East region, including countering terrorism. They also discussed ways to improve military cooperation.
The strong partnership between the United States and Egypt is a crucial element to peace and stability in the Middle East region.
