WASHINGTON--Joint Staff Spokesperson Col. Patrick S. Ryder provided the following readout:
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr. met with French Chief of Defence Staff Gen. François Lecointre Jan. 16 in Brussels, Belgium.
The two leaders discussed the current security environment in Europe and other areas of mutual interest.
The United States and France enjoy a longstanding alliance and close friendship dating back more than 200 years. The two nations continue to work together on issues of mutual interest and concern around the globe.
Gen. Dunford was in Brussels to participate in the NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defense Session, held Jan. 15-16 at NATO Headquarters.
