MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Team Maxwell-Gunter,
The events surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic are rapidly changing not only across our country, but here in the River Region and on Maxwell-Gunter.
Maxwell-Gunter is currently in Health Protection Condition Bravo (HPCON-B). This means there’s a heightened exposure and increased transmission risk. What does this mean for you? You should follow CDC guidance and recommendations to the maximum extent possible, such as: knowing how COVID-19 spreads; cleaning your hands often; avoiding close contact; stay home if you are sick; cover coughs and sneezes; clean and disinfect.
The safety and wellbeing of our Maxwell-Gunter family is at the forefront of our decisions and recommendations. Force health protection is our top priority, and we will continue to ensure that personnel and their families have the most up-to-date information on appropriate measures to prevent potential spread of the virus.
We are following risk-based measures consistent with guidance from the DoD and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in concert with local and state officials, such as encouraging all personnel to follow Force Health Protection guidelines to safeguard our community to prevent wide spread outbreak, and adhere to travel advisories and restrictions.
Units and work centers across Maxwell-Gunter have received guidance from higher headquarters permitting telework options as much as possible while still meeting mission essential functions.
To that end, starting today you will see various services and activities across the installation have reduced services or closed down entirely for the time being until the spread of the pandemic is mitigated. Please check the Maxwell website and Facebook site for the latest updates on reduced services and closures.
Finally, I ask for your patience as we work through rapidly changing circumstances. Your commanders and I remain committed to you and your families as we act together to “flatten the curve” to minimize the spread and impact.
Col Pat Carley
Commander, 42d Air Base Wing
Team 42 … We’ve got your 6
