MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Air University Press’s latest book release is The Secret Sauce for Organizational Success: Communications and Leadership on the Same Page by retired Navy Rear Adm. Tom Jurkowsky.
Jurkowsky's distinguished military career culminated in his service as the Navy's chief of information. In his 45 years as a public affairs professional in the defense, corporate and public sectors, he has seen it all. He describes how he and leaders handled situations that arose to levels of national news headlines. The author’s major premise is that in dealing with organizational crises, there is a “secret sauce”—and that is leadership.
The concepts for successfully interacting with the media are just as relevant in the digital media age as they were decades ago—if not more so. Former White House press secretary Mike McCurry notes that the author “gives us valuable lessons . . . about truthfulness and transparency in public communications” and that the book is “an important read for anyone who needs help in facing issues we must discuss in the public square.”
Jurkowsky’s goal is for communications practitioners and leaders to learn from his experiences and to motivate them to always do the right thing.
