WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- The 2020 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey was administered by the Office of Personnel Management to full and part-time, permanent, Department of the Air Force civilian employees from Sept. 15 to Oct. 28, 2020. The FEVS measures employees’ perceptions in critical areas such as work experiences, their agency, and leadership. Index scores for Employee Engagement and Global Satisfaction are determined from participant responses.
The 2020 FEVS included COVID-19 pandemic-related questions; providing participants the opportunity to share their perceptions of how their organization supported employee well-being and work needs during the pandemic.
The DAF 2020 FEVS participation rate was 27.8%, representing a 4.8 point increase ( about 21% increase) over the previous year. The 2020 participation rate across DoD was 35.3%.
The Department of the Air Force improved its scores on both the Employee Engagement and Global Satisfaction indices. The DAF Employee Engagement score improved to 74% (up from 70% in 2019). The three EEI sub-index scores also increased: Supervisors (up six points to 81%), Intrinsic Work Experience (up four points to 77%), and Leaders Lead (up five points to 66%). Likewise, the DAF 2020 Global Satisfaction score improved to 69% (up five points from 2019).
FEVS results provide agency leaders insight into areas where improvements have already been made and where opportunities to improve still exist. As results are available down to the lowest unit having 10 or more respondents, FEVS results provide valuable information to leaders and managers at all levels within the DAF.
