GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas -- Goodfellow members and San Angelo community leaders celebrated individuals who earned their associate of applied science degree from the Community College of the Air Force at the Powell Event Center, Nov. 10.
The CCAF is a federally-chartered academic institution that serves the U.S. Air Force’s enlisted total force. The college annually awards over 22,000 associate degrees from 69 various degree programs. Their vision is to provide a path to higher learning for those with a calling to serve.
Master Sgt. Samuel Han, 316th Training Squadron section chief, shared his experience of pursuing education and his hunger for knowledge. He spoke on the highs and lows of his career, his struggles, and his triumphs.
“Time is valuable; time is limited,” said Han. “Be the leader to teach, inspire, motivate and empower. Because your time is now.”
The college’s mission is to offer and award job-related associate degrees in applied sciences and other academic credentials that enhance mission readiness, contribute to recruiting, assist in retention, and support the career transitions and professional growth of the Air and Space Force enlisted corps.
The granddaughter of the late retired Col. Charles Powell, Caitlin Cannady, and Col. Matthew Reilman, 17th Training Wing commander, presented the Powell Warrior Award to Staff Sgt. Carly Silberschlag, 316th TRS instructor. This award is presented to a CCAF graduate who displayed the highest degree of military excellence.
