The Air University Library, in partnership with The Kelly Fitzpatrick Center for the Arts, is hosting an art show until Nov 14, 2024, at the Air University Library at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.

“We have four major domains in which the library does outreach,” said Tim Thomas, Air University Library outreach coordinator. “One of them is artist connect. We decided to have another art show and teamed up with the Kelly. We hosted it, but they did the leg work to get the artwork.”

The theme for this year’s art show was “The Art of Service,” where artists submitted work that reflects the distinct perspectives of military service members and civilians.  Altogether, the art show received 57 entries, 26 went to jury, and a total of 18 made it to the display cases.

“We have been wanting to do an engagement effort,” said Thomas. “In this one, we had The Kelly actually do the grand prize, but then we got all of the commanders to come in and do the Commanders’ Choice Award.”

In addition to the Commander’s Choice Award, there is also Best of the Show Award, chosen by a jury from The Kelly, and the Patron’s Choice Award, that is chosen by Air University patrons.

If you would like to vote for your favorite piece, stop by the Air University Library, where all pieces are on display, and cast your vote for the Patron’s choice award. Voting will end Oct. 4, 2024, and the Patron’s Choice Award will be announced Oct. 7, 2024.
