MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Maxwell Air Force Base and Gunter Annex have resumed normal operations following severe weather that impacted the area. The storms brought heavy rain, high winds, and lightning.
"I want to thank our Command Teams, Emergency Operations Center members, first responders, and facility managers for their efforts to ensure we were prepared for the storm and for working through the many challenges this weather event presented," said Col. Shamekia Toliver, 42nd Air Base Wing commander. "The safety of our service members, families, and base population is always paramount, and I'm proud of how effectively they responded to keep people safe and minimize disruption to the mission."
While conditions have improved, personnel are reminded to exercise caution while commuting, as some areas off the installation may still be impacted by the storm's aftermath.
Maxwell Family Housing residents should report damage to the Hunt Housing Management office at 1-(334) 686-0444.
