Though the number of assaults against women has fallen over the last decade, there are millions affected by the realities of dating violence. Although any act of dating violence can be devastating, it is extremely damaging to teens. Often the repercussions of teen dating violence can be felt by individuals, families, schools and even communities. Recognizing the damage caused by dating violence in 2006 both, Houses of Congress declared the first full week in February of each year "National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week."

In an effort to bring fun and awareness to teens here at Maxwell, the 42nd Air Base Wing Family Advocacy program, the Integrated Delivery System and the Maxwell Middle School have organized a free dance party for teens, 14 Feb from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., in Bldg. 689 the Maxwell Hangar. The dance will be open to all base middle, high school and home school students with no pre-registration and parents are encouraged to attend. For more information, call the Maxwell Middle School, 953-7206.
