Along with the opportunity to serve their country, a number of individuals joined the Air Force for financial stability and job security.

Those in this department work day in and day out ensuring the men and women who defend the United States are delivered their hard earned paycheck on time and accurately.

"We are here every day making sure our people are taken care of financially," said Staff Sgt. Eric Toenjes, noncommissioned officer in charge of customer service in the finance office.

There's a misconception that the only way to rectify potential problems with an Airman's pay is to take time out of the day to come to the finance building and speak with a representative, said Toenjes.

"That is not true at all," Toenjes explained. "Almost everything that we are able to assist customers with in the office is available for them online."

Through the virtual Military Personnel Flight in the Air Force portal, Airmen can view Leave and Earnings Statements available in Mypay; and PiPS/eFinance. These are all valuable tools that may prevent an unwarranted trip to the finance office.

"We do not mind at all when people come in to the office for help," said Senior Airman Donte-Nisha Wilson, reserve pay technician in the finance office. "Some people may be uncomfortable or unfamiliar with how to utilize the sites available and we are more than happy to walk them through the process."

Maxwell's finance office averages 600 customers a month, said Toenjes. "That number gets inflated during the summer months - we seem to be much busier during that time."
When the decision is made to take a trip to the finance office at Maxwell, the normal wait time before a representative is able to assist is three to five minutes, said Wilson.

"We try and get people in and out as soon as possible," said Wilson. "Everyone's time is valuable and we want to help them in any way we can then send them away without having them away from their job's for an extended period of time."

The finance office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. as well as Fridays from 8:30 a.m. -noon. After noon on Fridays, the office catches up on unfinished tasks before the weekend begins.
