Fitness centers offer senior fitness options

Senior adults can enjoy fitness designed just for them at the Maxwell and Gunter fitness centers. Equipment orientation classes are available to teach them about exercise machines, and a personal trainer is on hand free of charge to provide instruction for reaching fitness goals.

The fitness on request kiosk system inside the Maxwell Fitness Center and the Gunter Community Center includes three workouts focused on senior fitness using a variety of safe, effective movements.

The senior hi-lo workout helps gain cardiovascular strength and balance, senior core teaches balance through core strength training and flexibility, and senior stretch helps reduce stress and increases range of motion and strength through deep breathing exercises and safe yoga movements. All workouts are displayed on a 110-inch projection screen.

The Gunter Fitness Center will start a group senior fitness class in April. For information, contact the Maxwell Fitness Center at 953-5953 or the Gunter Fitness Center at 416-1250.
