Road construction projects ahead for Maxwell, Gunter Published Feb. 3, 2012 MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- The Kelly Street commercial vehicle inspection area upgrade project is scheduled to begin Thursday with the widening of the commercial vehicle inspection area temporary location. This will allow trucks a larger turnaround area. Once the initial project is completed, all commercial vehicles will be directed to the new inspection area by gate guards and signage placed near the area. This could cause delays while drivers adjust to the changes. All delivery companies coming to Maxwell should be made aware of the upcoming change. The upgrade of the commercial vehicle area will take about six months. Once the new CVI area is completed, all inspections will return to the original location on the left side of the road near the gate. Road construction at Gunter's Congressman Dickinson gate project is under way, and traffic is scheduled to be inbound only from 6:30-8 a.m. Tuesday. After 8 a.m., traffic will resume normal operation. Construction will be under way from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. In addition, North Drive is being repaved. Expect traffic congestion. Those needing to get to building 900 can take the left onto Computer Loop Drive, then left onto Persons Drive and then the right onto North Drive. There will be times where the traffic will be at a standstill or reduced to one lane of traffic. Exercise extreme caution when driving in construction areas.
