Business booming at the Air University Inn Published Feb. 3, 2012 By Amy Morris Marketing and publicity MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- The Air University Inn recently called back to work many of its employees as a result of an increase in student lodging needs. Following the closure of the Air and Space Basic course, the need for student lodging decreased August through December. The restructuring of Squadron Officer School has resulted in an increase of student occupancy. Lodging general manager Chris Kitchens said, "We have a fantastic team here at University Inn, and we were very pleased at the near-full return of the staff." University Inn is the second-largest lodging facility in the Air Force, with 41 buildings and 2,270 rooms, and averages more than 500,000 bed nights per year. Their guests include more than 1,600 distinguished visitors (0-7 and above) - AETC's largest DV host. The reservation team uses the Air Force's only Registrar Education Program Management System to schedule rooms for more than 500 classes and 26,000 students.
