Maxwell Community Library is closed until Nov. 25 to facilitate the move into its new location. The library will reopen at 10 a.m. Nov. 28 in Building 910 on Shumacher Ave.

"It's a good move for patrons," said Marsha Taylor, library director. The new location is larger, allowing the library to expand from about 7,000 square feet at the old location to 13,484 at the new location.

The library's interior includes new shelving and carpet, and new furniture will be arriving soon. Taylor said there are plans for a coffee shop in the library.

The youth area features a sculpture called "The Readin' Tree," a hollow structure into which children can enter. The teen area includes new flat screen televisions and videogame systems. The new location also includes an updated media room and two conference rooms available to base personnel for meetings and events.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new library is scheduled at 1 p.m. Dec. 8. Refreshments, entertainment and activities are planned.

Library materials due during the closure should be returned Nov. 28.
