The Maxwell-Gunter Airman's Attic, which provides clothing and household items to enlisted Airmen E-6 and below, needs volunteers.

Airman's Attic assists about 250 families a month. Besides the satisfaction of helping fellow Airmen, there are many benefits to volunteering at the Airman's Attic.

"The time you spend volunteering can actually be a tax deduction," said Angelica J. Orlando, the coordinator and director of the Airman's Attic. "Volunteering here is a great bullet, and the job is easy and fun."

The tasks at the Airman's Attic require minimal effort. Volunteers sort and organize donated items, restock the shelves and greet customers.

"You don't need to be experienced to volunteer here, and there is no heavy lifting or manual labor," said Orlando. "It is not hard work at all, we just need the manpower."

To volunteer, there are no forms to fill out or sign. A person may walk into the Airman's Attic at any time and ask to help.

Orlando noted the time a person chooses to volunteer is at their leisure as long as it is within business hours.

If child care issues could prevent a person from volunteering, children are welcome to come along. Military spouses are also welcome to volunteer.

Theresa G. Dulaney, a military spouse, said she loves volunteering at the Airman's Attic and has been doing so since October 2009.

"It is very gratifying to help military members," Mrs. Dulaney said. "I am glad to help any military family."

Mrs. Dulaney, one of nine volunteers at the Airman's Attic, said others are welcome to visit and assist, even if it is just a few minutes out of their busy days.

"I know active-duty Airmen might have a hard time volunteering, but even if it is just an hour, it still helps out," Mrs. Dulaney said. "Volunteers can help make the difference in many lives here."
