Day Street Gate to reopen Feb. 28 Published Feb. 18, 2010 MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Base officials here announced the reopening date for Maxwell's Day Street Gate today. The Day Street gate, which has been closed since July 1, is scheduled to reopen to traffic on Feb. 28 at 6 a.m. The overall $1.3 million project, which was funded with stimulus money, was divided into three separate projects: construction of a canopy over the road at the gate building; repair work to the gate; and adding a restroom to the gate building. Linda Lowmiller of the 42nd Contracting Squadron said two of the primary reasons for the renovations were to enhance base anti-terrorism measures and to improve working conditions for personnel assigned to work the gate.
