'Take it Easy' events for Maxwell-Gunter

TODAY
  • The Fall Festival at the Gunter Youth Center is today beginning at 6 p.m. The outdoor movie starts at 7:30 p.m. Activities include carnival game booths, a haunted science lab, refreshments and token game prizes. Costs include 25-cent game tickets to be used for the various game booths and science lab.
  • Gunter Fun Fest is today, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Gunter Bowl.
  • The Birthday Party at the Falcon's Nest is today, 8 to 11 p.m. There is birthday cake and drink specials.
  • ITT has tickets to Queensryche, the American Soldier Tour. The show is at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre today, 7:30 p.m. There is also a CD signing by Queensryche at the ITT office today, 11 a.m. to noon. Tickets to the performance are two for the price of one, plus a free ticket to the sound check this afternoon. Tickets are available at the ITT office. For more information, call 953-6351.
  • Pigskin Pick 'Em Contest entry forms are due today at 1 p.m. Each week select game winners for the following week with a chance to win $50 in FSS Bucks. One entry per week is allowed. Entry forms and drop boxes are at Cypress Tree Golf, Maxwell Event Center, Maxwell Bowling, Gunter Lanes, Falcon's Nest and the Clock Tower Lounge and online at www.maxwellservices.us.
  • The Maxwell Riverfront Inn and Gunter Aviation Inn dining facilities are open each Friday to dependents and immediate family members of deployed active-duty personnel. Maxwell hours are 4:30 to 7 p.m. Gunter hours are 4 to 6:30 p.m.
SATURDAY
  • Introduction to Woodworking is today beginning at 9 a.m. Call 953-6426 for more information.
  • The Gunter Auto Hobby Class is 9 to 11 a.m. Call 416-3119 for more information.
SUNDAY
  • Family Tees program at the Cypress Tree is every Sunday, 2 p.m. to closing. Bring the kids and play a shorter, easier and faster course. The cost is half price for adults age 17 and older and free for youth age 16 and younger. There must be at least one adult and one child to qualify.
MONDAY
  • All-U-Can-Bowl Monday at the Maxwell Bowling Center runs 4 to 9 p.m. The cost is only $5. Shoes are not included.
  • Maxwell Bowling and Gunter Lanes hold an after-school bowling special every Monday and Thursday 3 to 5 p.m. Kid's games are $1 and shoe rental is 50-cents. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, and the special is for kids only.
TUESDAY
  • Purchase a Super Tuesday Pass from Gunter Lanes for $4 and receive a game of bowling and shoe rental. A small drink is 50 cents, and hot dogs and fries are 75 cents each. Specials are available 3:30 to 8 p.m. every Tuesday.
  • Maxwell Bowling Center All-U-Can Bowl is every Tuesday, 4 to 9 p.m. Cost is $5.
WEDNESDAY
  • The Birthday Party at the Stripes Lounge is Wednesday, 5 to 9 p.m.
  • High Stakes Bingo at the Maxwell Event Center opens at 5 p.m. every Wednesday with card and refreshment sales. Games start at 6 p.m. Open to all civilians, officers, enlisted and retirees age 18 and up. Entry is free for club members and $5 non-members. The last game offers a big payout.
  • Wednesday Wings Special at Gunter Lanes offers two hours of bowling for up to four people including shoes, basket of wings and pitcher of soda for $20. Each additional person is $4.
  • Wednesday Family Night at Maxwell Bowling Center is 4 to 9 p.m. and offers two hours of bowling for up to six people bowling on one lane with a choice of large single topping pizza, or eight hot dogs and large basket of fries, with a pitcher of soda for $34.
THURSDAY
  • Membership Night at the Falcon's Nest is Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m. The menu is a barbecue buffet. The cost for members is $7.95 and $9.95 for non-members.
  • Mini Max Bowlers is every Thursday through Dec. 17 with two-person teams at $4 a person, ages 6 to 16. There is a pizza party at the end of the session. For more information, call 953-5049.
  • 25-cent Wings at the Officers' Club, Falcon's Nest and Stripes Lounge is every Thursday, 5 to 7 p.m. The special price is for members only; non-members pay regular price.
  • The Pit, located inside the Officers' Club offers Karaoke every Thursday, 8 to 11 p.m. For more information, call 953-7820.
COMING EVENTS
  • Halloween Party Member Appreciation Night at the Pit is Oct. 24, 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Members receive complimentary appetizers. There are door prizes and a costume contest.
  • The Ryder Cup at Cypress Tree Golf is Oct. 24 with an 8:30 a.m. tee off. Format for this event is 2-person teams with six holes scramble, six holes 4-ball and six holes alternate shot. Members pay $15 plus cart fees and non-members pay $15 plus cart and green fees. There is food and prizes following play.
  • The Biloxi Casino Day Trip with ITT is Oct. 24. The day trip is $30 per person and leaves at 5:45 a.m., returning late that night. Make reservations now; trip fills quickly. For reservations and information, call 953-6351.
  • The Bass & Buddy Fishing Tournament is Oct. 24, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Cooter's Pond Ramp. The cost is $30 per boat, including the $5 Lunker Pot. Payback in cash prizes is 90 percent. Fishing alone is permitted, but buddies are encouraged. For more information or to sign up, call 953-6168.
  • The Maxwell Youth Center Fall Festival is Oct. 30, 6 to 8 p.m. Activities include carnival games, face painting and prize drawings. For more information, call 953-6292.
  • Maxwell Bowling hosts a Children's Halloween Party Oct. 30, 4:30 to 6 p.m. The party includes treat bags, two games of bowling, shoes, pizza, cookies and soda. There is a costume contest with prizes at 5:45 p.m. The call is $8. Call 953-5049 to reserve a spot.
  • The Falcon's Nest and Stripes Lounge are holding Halloween parties on Oct. 31, beginning at 4 p.m. Costumes are welcome "if you dare," and costume judging begins at 10 p.m.
ON-GOING EVENTS
  • Maxwell-Gunter Youth Sports Basketball Program registration runs through Nov. 6.
  • The Air Force "Live Green" program runs through Nov. 20. Donations of cell phones, VHS tapes and shoes will be accepted at the Maxwell Community Center (Building 742) and the Gunter Community Center (Building 825).
  • Bowling for "A"s at Maxwell Bowling Center continues. Students bring in report cards and for every "A" that earned, receive a free game.
  • Disney Parks and Universal Orlando each have a free ticket program honoring the U.S. military now into December 2009. "Disney Parks Celebrate U.S. Military" is valid through Dec. 23. "Universal Orlando's Military Salute Special" ticket offer is valid through Dec. 18. Each offers free tickets to the active-duty and retired military.   • The Maxwell Fitness Center has a massage therapist available for appointments. Operating hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call 953-8144.
