SNCO induction ceremony
The Maxwell-Gunter Top-3 organizations are hosting a Senior NCO induction ceremony tonight at 6 p.m. at Gunter's Falcon's Nest. The ceremony is the final event of a Professional Development Seminar for SNCOs that began Tuesday and concludes today at the Gunter NCO Academy auditorium. The primary objective of the PDS is to broaden the knowledge base of the newest SNCOs. This program is considered a mandatory event for all newly selected master sergeants. Contact Master Sgt. 42nd FSS Customer Support closure
The 42nd Force Support Squadron customer support will be closed today due to Air and Space Basic Course in-processing. Normal business hours are Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to noon. For more information or to make an appointment, call the customer service line at 953-6487.

Applying for federal employment
Career Focus will host a class today from 1:30 to 3 p.m. This class will supply the knowledge to locate federal employment and discuss the different aspects of completing a résumé online. A federal job announcement will be reviewed in detail to understand all the requirements needed to apply for a particular job. This class is for spouses and dependents only. Popsicle Friday
Every Friday during the month of July is "Popsicle Friday." Residents of base family housing can pick up a popsicle in the Landings main office.

Ice cream truck schedule
An ice cream truck will be coming through the family housing areas Saturday, noon to 3 p.m. at Maxwell and 3 to 6 p.m. at Gunter.

HQ AU/FMF office closure
HQ AU/FMF (Maxwell finance office) customer service office will be closed Monday and Aug. 4 for inprocessing of students of Air War College and Air Command and Staff College. In case of an emergency, contact Master Sgt. Corine Carrillo at 953-8157.

Protestant VBS
Take a train ride on the Boomerang Express and discover the vastness of God's love in Vacation Bible School at Maxwell Elementary School Monday through July 31, 5:30 to 8 p.m. Children will learn that no matter where they go or what they do in life - it all comes back to Jesus. Catholic community VBS
The Maxwell Catholic Community is now accepting registrations for Vacation Bible School, Tuesday through July 31, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Chapel 1 Annex. This year's theme explores ways to serve God and each other in "God's Big Backyard." A light family supper will be provided each evening of VBS, followed by class for children entering kindergarten through 5th grade. There will be music, crafts and plenty of fun. On July 31, there will be a pool party for all enrolled families, 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Maxwell's cadet pool. Small business workshop
Transition Assistance will host a class on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon. The Alabama State University Small Business Development Center conducts a Small Business Workshop at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. This class provides participants with information necessary for starting a business or franchise. Subjects include: marketing, financial, management, operations, and legal requirements. Résumé writing workshop

NSPS classes
Rating and rewarding performance in the National Security Personnel System, or NSPS, will be held Aug. 4-5, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bldg. 804 room NW 201. Participants will learn how to rate and reward employee performance fairly and equitably. Participants will also examine the elements of a well-written supervisory assessment, consider the criteria for determining share assignment and payout distribution, and prepare for relevant performance conversations with their employees. Chapel sponsors finance course
The 42nd Air Base Wing Chapel will present "Financial Peace University" beginning in August. The course will be offered Wednesday evenings, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., from Aug. 4 to Nov. 3 in Maxwell's Chapel 2. The course is a Biblically-based, accountability curriculum that teaches how to make the right financial decisions. In a small group format, this 13-lesson DVD course is taught by personal finance expert Dave Ramsey. It covers everything from budgeting and paying off debt to retirement and charitable giving. FEW Awards luncheon
As part of Federal Women's month, Maxwell-Gunter Federally Employed Women, or FEW, will host an awards luncheon Aug. 27 at 11:30 a.m. at the Officers' Club. Tickets are available for $15. The meal includes a gourmet chicken breast with vegetable medley, fruit cup, roll and tea. The deadline for ticket sales is Aug. 20. Back to school physicals
The 42nd Medical Group is ready to assist TRICARE Prime enrollees with back-to school health care needs. A special Back-to-School clinic will be held Aug. 8, 8 a.m. to noon for any student age 3-18 years old that requires a school physical or will be playing any sports during the school year (cheerleading, basketball, softball, etc). Additionally, medication administration forms or Alabama Immunization Blue Cards (required for all students) will be completed. Federal Women's Month awards
August is Federal Women's Month at Maxwell. The Federal Women's Program Committee and Federally Employed Women are seeking nominations for the Federal Supervisor of the Year and for Distinguished Service Awards in four categories: GS or WG/WS grades 1 through 8/Pay Band 1; GS-9 or WG/WS equivalent and above/ Pay Bands 2 and 3; enlisted, all ranks, and officer, all ranks.
