The Maxwell and Gunter Pools will open for Memorial Day weekend May 23. The Maxwell Pool is located on Ash Street and the Gunter Pool is located on North Drive.

For Memorial Day weekend, the pools will be open Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Memorial Day, May 25, from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. for open swim. The pools will be closed May 26 and reopen for regular hours on May 27.

The pool's regular hours are Tuesday - Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., for lap swimming only, and 1 to 7 p.m. for open swim. The pools will be open Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pools are closed on Mondays. The pool season runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

Swimmers have two options to enjoy the pools; they can either buy a season pass or pay the daily admission charge. Passes will be good for the entire pool season. A season pass for one person is $30; $40 for two, and $50 for a family of three or more. The daily fee for eligible customers is $1 per person and a guest is $2. Only 2 guests are allowed per military ID. Everyone entering the pool must show their ID. Children 3 years old and younger are free.

Pool management recommends dependants with military ID ages 11-13 get a pool "Fish" pass so lifeguards will know they are proficient swimmers. With a Fish pass that age group can be left unattended at the pool. There are no exceptions.

The Fish passes will be issued only when a child can demonstrate that they can swim 40 feet, tread water for one minute and are able to pull themselves from the water without using the pool ladder. Fish passes are free and are good all summer.

Children age 10 years old and younger must be accompanied by their parents or a responsible person 18 years old or older. Children using the pools must be potty trained or wearing a swim diaper. Wading pools are available at both pools for age six and younger.

Swimmers are only allowed to use U.S. Coast Guard approved life vest type I, II, or III in the pools, except on Saturdays and Sundays, when people can bring their floats and noodles. Water wings are prohibited. A life vest must be worn if you cannot swim.

The pools also have two 12-foot, flume-slides that are open to people who can swim and pool side basketball goals. There are two lap-swim lanes at Maxwell and one at Gunter available all day Tuesday - Sunday.
