120,000 attend 2010 Thunder Over Alabama air show Published April 5, 2010 By 010410 MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Approximately 120,000 people attended the Thunder Over Alabama air show here March 27 and 28 according to base officials. More than 84,000 people attended the Maxwell air show March 27, and 36,000 attended the following day. The Thunder Over Alabama air show featured the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and the U.S. Army Golden Knights, as well as numerous other military and civilian flying acts. Attendees also visited numerous aircraft on display such as a Wright Flyer replica, an F-22 Raptor, an F-15 Eagle, an A-10 Thunderbolt II, a KC-135 Stratotanker and a variety of World War II and other military warbirds. "This air show was a great success for Maxwell Air Force Base and the entire River Region," said Col. Kris Beasley, 42nd Air Base Wing commander. "We were honored to help celebrate 100 years of flight in Alabama and glad that so many River Region citizens were able to meet and interact with our Airmen -- the finest in the world. We're very proud of all the base personnel who worked so hard to make this such a memorable event, and we appreciate the tremendous community support which helped make the air show possible."
