Airmen raise morale, run in Color Blast 5k Published Aug. 14, 2015 By By Airman 1st Class Zoe Russell 42nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala -- The 42nd Force Support Squadron hosted its second Color Blast 5k at Maxwell Air Force Base, Aug. 8, 2015. During the event, 180 Airmen, family members, and friends ran 3.1- miles along Maxwell's River Run running route, as volunteers "blasted" them with colorful powder. The fun continued after the run, with a dance party complete with extra colored powder and lunch. The music, colorful powder, and high energy helped raise morale, while runners from all age groups exercised. "It's a fun way to get outside and do something fitness- related with the whole family," said Jessica Rudolph, a Color Blast 5k volunteer. "Everyone can go out and just do a regular run, but this is something where they can go out and it seriously looks like a rainbow." Staff Sgt. Jennifer Richardson, a paralegal student here, volunteered to throw colored powder at runners during the event. "It's so exciting," she said. "People want the color, but when they see you coming they are a little hesitant about it, like, 'Wait! I don't know that I really want it." Richardson has run in a similar event at her home base and encourages people to participate. "Just for me, being here as a temporary duty student, it's raised my morale. I've been looking forward to it since we got here," said Richardson. "If you ever get a chance, you should definitely run it or throw. Either way, I think you'll have a really good time."
