All former Air Force Squadron Officer School faculty, known as Red  Pant Faculty, are invited to help the school celebrate its 65th anniversary Oct. 22-24, 2015.

"We have numerous events planned over a three-day celebration that not only reflect on the school's heritage, but also provides attendees with knowledge on where the college is heading," said Brig. Gen. Gerald Goodfellow, Squadron Officer College commander.

The anniversary will kick off with a Warrior Symposium Oct. 22 featuring prestigious alumni guest speakers, such as such as former prisoner of war Col. Lee Ellis, former Space and Missile Systems Center commander, retired Lt. Gen. Brian A. Arnold.

Events on Oct. 23 will include flicker ball, a barbecue lunch and a military ball, with Air University Commander Lt. Gen. Steven Kwast as the guest speaker.  The anniversary will officially conclude with a golf tournament Oct. 24 at Maxwell's Cypress Tree Golf Course.

The celebration is not only a time for SOS to look back and reflect on its accomplishments, but a chance to inform alumni of its future and influence on the careers of current Air Force officers.

"SOS looks forward to becoming the premier leadership institution of its type in the world," Goodfellow said.  "We recently executed a change, initiated by the chief of staff of the Air Force, to ensure 100 percent of Air Force captains attend SOS in residence.  Therefore, in the future we will be the only professional military education institution in the Air Force that educates every officer in-resident."

Goodfellow outlined current initiatives taking place at SOS as a result of the recent change.

"We take this obligation seriously and are in the midst of a faculty development program that will make all of our instructors even better," he said.  "We have a continuous improvement initiative for our curriculum that makes it evolutionary better for each SOS class. We are exploring many revolutionary initiatives in our curriculum, to include the standup of a prototype Learning Sciences and Technology Studio where we will attempt to leverage, where appropriate, 3D learning opportunities in an integrated learning environment throughout our curriculum. SOS is a unique place; in fact, General Kwast describes it as a 'magical place" an organization with a 'can do' attitude that continually strives to get better, and in many ways is on the leading edge of improving education through the use of the most advanced technology."
