The Airman's Attic here is scheduled to be making a few changes starting July 14 -17.

During the four-day renovation process, volunteers are scheduled to paint the walls, clean the carpets and floors and sort out their inventory.

"We just want to start fresh, so when Airmen come in they are actually getting what they need," said Master Sgt. Donovan Bowman, Airman's Attic coordinator.

Due to the renovations, the Airman's Attic will be closed to customers during those days, but will be open the following week looking neater and in better shape.

"Closing the Airman's Attic and remodeling things will help the volunteers here and the customers in two different ways.  For the volunteers, they'll have a cleaner and safer environment, so that the people that come out here are in a safe working environment," said Bowman.   "As far as our customers, they'll be able to see through the mess."

With the new changes come new customers. The Airman's Attic will now be open to all ranks, enlisted and officers.

"The reason we're opening it to all ranks is because we have a small force here on Maxwell and Gunter and after reviewing the books, we realized that the majority of our customers were E-6 and E-5, so we're opening it up to all ranks to once again support the needs that are here," said Bowman.

A couple of full time volunteers shared their excitement for the upcoming changes and the explained why they will be beneficial to volunteers and customers.

"I'm excited to have everything organized better...so it's cleaner and helps everyone shop better as well as the volunteers put stuff out quicker," said Elise Sottile, Airman's Attic volunteer.

"I'm very excited about the number of items that a person will be allowed to get," said Laura Norris. "It's definitely fairer for everyone and it will be more organized. We're revamping how we're doing everything."

The Airman's Attic provides items to Airmen such as uniforms, clothing, furniture, electronics and food; but it also offers volunteer opportunities for anyone looking to help out.
