The 42nd Security Force Squadron had their hands full at the Maxwell Elementary-Middle School Crime Prevention Day.

The event enabled students to interact with the security force members and have fun at the same time.

"The importance of the children interacting with us as security forces members is so they understand that we are here to help them and to teach them the importance of dialing 911 when they're in trouble, and just to know that we are here for them," said Tech. Sgt. Gilbert Gallegos, 42nd SFS noncommissioned officer in charge of police services.

42nd SFS brought out one of their biggest police cars, the police bouncy house.  Students got the opportunity to jump around in the inflated police car before going over and exploring actual police vehicles, including two all-terrain vehicles and the security forces investigations van.

Throughout the day, students were reminded of one of the most important things to know about security forces and that is they are here to help when needed.

"We are here to help them," said Gallegos.  "If they ever need us, we're one phone call away."

Security forces brought out a variety of fun things to keep the students engaged and entertained.

"I got my face painted, I watched people do the dunk tank and I went in the bounce house," said Reese Putman, MEMS first grade student.

Throughout the day, students never lost sight of the overall purpose of the event.
"We're learning how to be safe," the first grader said.
