The new workout club, Team MaxFit Tactical Fitness, kicks off at the Maxwell Fitness Annex at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala.

"Our tactical fitness encompasses all aspects of fitness: cardio, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy," said Maj. Mike Hethcock, student at Air Command and Staff College and MaxFit secretary. "In order to succeed at life and be well-rounded, an athlete needs to exercise all these areas -- tactical fitness does this."

Before members jump right into the workouts, they go through a three-week program called "on-ramp." This phase introduces members to tactical-style fitness and gets them up to speed before entering regular workouts.
"
We don't want anyone to get hurt. We don't want to slow anyone down, but we want people to do the moves properly and safely," said Hethcock
MaxFit believes that social wellness could always use a workout too.

"When you have a team cheering and motivating you, that's powerful," said Hethcock.

"It's amazing how much more you can do when you have people cheering you on."
Evelyn Baxter, a MaxFit member, said, "We're meeting our fitness goals and getting to know each other. MaxFit fits the complete wingman concept better than any other physical training program I've been to."

MaxFit is a private organization that is not part of the Department of Defense. The membership fee is $40 a year, and the money goes toward certifying coaches and new equipment.  To contact MaxFit, send an email to maxfit.contact@gmail.com.
