The 10th annual Sexual Assault Prevention campaign kicks off Tuesday. This year's theme is "Live Our Values: Step Up to Stop Sexual Assault."

To help educate Maxwell and Gunter on sexual assault prevention, the sexual assault response coordinator's office will host events throughout the month.

"These events are aimed at educating people about sexual assault prevention and response in a non-threatening environment in order to reinforce our commitment to the elimination of the crime," said LaNesa Howard, sexual assault response coordinator for Maxwell. "We recognize that a sexual assault problem does exist within our military and our community, and we are using a variety of approaches to help solve that problem. The majority of the people in the military environment would never ever hurt anyone; we are asking them to help us stop those who do."

To report a sexual assault, call the SARC's 24-hour hotline at 953-8696. For information about sexual assault or to speak with someone at the SARC office, call 953-4416 or 953-7116.
