Maxwell, Gunter top $450,000 for CFC Published Jan. 3, 2014 By Donovan Jackson 42nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. - -- The Combined Federal Campaign held its annual Victory and Awards Celebration Dec. 13 at the Maxwell Club. Maxwell-Gunter's accumulated total contribution was $451,889.32, falling short of its goal of $558,079 because of uncontrollable circumstances such as the government shutdown and civilian furloughs, said the commander of the Carl A. Spaatz Center for Officer Education and vice commander of Air University. "This was really an amazing year for the CFC, especially with all the challenges that were erected throughout the year," said Maj. Gen. Brian Bishop. "We faced a government shutdown and civilian furloughs and yet we still were able to raise a substantial amount of money." With the help of 3,058 pledges, the Heart of Alabama CFC received contributions totaling $961,006.79, falling short of its goal of $1,150,000 by $188,994. "We've never experienced such circumstances in the campaign before," said Beverly Arnold, a spokesperson for the Southeast Campaign of the HOA CFC. Although the goals set for this year's campaign were not reached, the contributions made will still have a dynamic impact for those who need it the most, Bishop said. "When you look at the numbers, you will come to find that those who contributed were very generous this year," Bishop said. "It's not about how much money was raised, but more so about how many meals that the money is going to provide for families in need." The Air Command and Staff College was the biggest contributor for Maxwell this year. The ACSC raised $63,012.64. "We persevered, regardless of all the factors that were against us," said Col. Mark Ramsey, vice commander of the 42nd Air Base Wing and co-chair of the CFC's board of directors. "The dollars that were raised are going to make a significant difference in someone's life.
