Air University earned an "excellent" during the Consolidated Unit Inspection conducted Sept. 10-13. The 42nd Air Base Wing received 5 different inspections earning a "outstanding" on the Logistics Compliance Inspection, an "excellent" on the Health Services Inspection, a "satisfactory" on the Consolidated Unit Inspection and passed the Environmental Compliance Inspection and Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care Inspection with "no major deficiencies".

Lieutenant Gen. David Fadok, Air University commander and president, and Col. Trent Edwards, 42nd Air Base Wing commander, made the announcements and congratulated their respective organizations in separate briefings Sept. 13.

"You are excellent and outstanding, and we are 'The Best Hometown in the Air Force," said Edwards to the men and women assigned to the 42 Air Base Wing. The Colonel said that he is proud of his team and what they accomplished throughout five tough inspections. "They demonstrated to the inspectors that the 42 ABW is a mission-ready, world-class installation." Edwards said. "I'm happy for my Airmen, civilians and contractors, they worked very hard."

During the CUI, inspectors from Air Education and Training Command reviewed how well AU and the wing adhere to Air Force instructions and applicable guidance and policy. Also, inspectors closely examined the commanders' self-inspections and their ability to assess the effectiveness of their individual units.

"To get an 'excellent' in this environment, to do as well as you did during this inspection is just simply amazing," Fadok told the Airmen under his command. "I would like to thank everyone for the amount of effort that they put in. A lot of work goes into making sure that all the 'i's are dotted and all the t's are crossed,'" said the general.

Fadok thanked everyone for continuing to push Maxwell's mission.   "Please know that I thank each and every one of you for ensuring that we are the intellectual and leadership center of the Air Force," he said.
