Maxwell will celebrate the U.S. Air Force's 66th birthday with a ball on Sept. 14 at the Renaissance Hotel in Montgomery.

The theme for this year's celebration is "The World's Greatest Air Force, Powered by Airmen, Fueled by Innovation."

The formal event will include fellowship, dinner, dancing, a silent auction and a presentation by senior U.S. defense official Maj. Gen. Richard Clark, chief of the Office of Military Cooperation and defense attaché in Cairo, Egypt.

"This year's event is a great opportunity to celebrate our Air Force heritage, honor our Airmen and look to an unbounded future," said Lt. Col. Mike Clark, event chairperson and Air War College student.

"A lot of hard work and effort has been put into this event. It promises to be an enjoyable and memorable evening for all," he said.

Clark said up to 700 total force Airmen, joint service, international officers and civilian guests from throughout the river region will attend this year's event.

The ball kicks off at 6 p.m. with a social hour. Dinner includes chicken, salmon or vegetarian options. Uniform will be mess dress for officers and mess dress or semi-formal dress for enlisted military members.

Formal attire is recommended for civilians. Tickets cost $55 and can be purchased through unit ball representatives. Checks should be made payable to the Horizons Association.
