The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., met Nov. 6 with Gen. Hulusi Akar, Chief of the Turkish General Staff, to discuss operations against ISIL in Iraq and Syria.  General Dunford and General Akar discussed long-term plans to work collaboratively to disrupt and deny ISILs ability to plan and coordinate external operations against the United States, Turkey, as well as other allies and partners.  The two leaders also agreed to continue to consult closely on the coalition plan to seize and hold Raqqa.  The meeting occurred following the announcement of SDF operations that have begun to isolate ISIL in Syria and limit ISIL's freedom of movement from Mosul into and out of Raqqa.
