During his visit, Hinds participated in the Turkish Air Staff Talks and met with Lt. Gen. Rafet Dalkiran, Turkish Air Force Chief of Staff.

The Turkish Air Force hosted the Air Staff Talk as an opportunity to discuss issues surrounding aircraft modification, strategies to contribute to NATO readiness and opportunities to strengthen the longstanding bilateral defense relationship. These talks are the fourth such touchpoint between the Turkish and U.S. Air Force leadership with a goal of strengthening relationships at the strategic, operational and tactical levels.

In their meetings, the generals discussed their experiences and outlined plans for future activities, including exchange programs, mutual technical visits, joint exercises. The meeting underscored the importance of the partnership between the U.S. and Turkish air forces, emphasizing how bilateral training enhances cooperation and shared defense in the region.

“The collaboration between U.S. and Turkish Airmen both in Türkiye and across the globe, forms the foundation of our strategic partnership” said Lt Gen Hinds. “Our air forces will remain vigilant in defense of U.S. national security and regional stability on NATO’s southern flank.”

The Turkish Air Force, one of the oldest air forces in the world, operates one of NATOs largest combat aircraft fleets.

During his visit, Lt. Gen. Hinds also stressed the importance of fostering relationships with the people of Türkiye. The two generals also participated in a wreath-laying ceremony honoring Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye.
