PRESS RELEASE: US–Japan Conduct Bilateral Training Flight

The U.S. Air Force and Japan Air Self-Defense Force aircraft conducted a bilateral training flight over the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea on Mar. 6, 2025.

The goal of the exercise was to continue the ongoing effort to strengthen the bilateral deterrence and defense response capabilities of the U.S.-Japan alliance.

The flight consisted of:

U.S. Air Force:
- One (1) B-1B Lancer

JASDF:
- Four (4) F-15s, 5th Air Wing (Nyutabaru)
- Three (3) F-15s, 6th Air Wing (Komatsu)
- Four (4) F-2s, 8th Air Wing (Tsuiki)
- Four (4) F-15s, 9th Air Wing (Naha)

Participating JASDF agencies:
- Central Aircraft Control and Warning Wing (Iruma)
- Western Aircraft Control and Warning Wing (Kasuga)
- Southwestern Aircraft Control and Warning Wing (Naha)

Training flights are a regular effort to promote partner and ally cooperative deterrence efforts for any aggression and maintain peace within the Indo-Pacific region.
