Two U.S. Air Force B-52H Stratofortresses and aircrews conducted intercept training with Royal Netherlands Air Force F-35 lightning IIs, Royal Danish Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcons, and Swedish JAS 39 Gripens during Bomber Task Force 25-2 mission TOWER CITADEL in the Arctic region, March 17.

The training enabled the Allies to test rapid response protocols and power projection capabilities, addressing simulated airborne threats and aircraft incursions.

“Training alongside Allies and partners enhances interoperability and ensures seamless coordination and communication ahead of potential real-world scenarios,” said Lt. Col. Kendall Smith, Bomber Task Force chief for U.S. Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa. “These missions directly strengthen lethality, readiness, and warfighting capabilities.”

TOWER CITADEL marks the thirteenth operation completed during this BTF deployment.
