An Air Force ROTC cadet touches Maxwell's monument to the "Prop and Wings" in a ceremony June 19 that signified the cadets acceptance into the "long blue line of the Air Force." The cadets wear the prop and wings emblem after completing the arduous first phase of officer training. Air Education and Training Command Commander Gen. Stephen Lorenz established the ceremony at Maxwell in 2007 while he commanded Air University. He attended the Maxwell ceremony June 19. The prop and wings emblem was first worn by aviation cadets in 1917. (U.S. Air Force photo/Jamie Pitcher)
