Navaho Indians serving as Marines in the Pacific theater of operations.
Navaho Indians who served as Marines in the Pacific theater of operations developed a radio code based on the Navajo language, which the Japanese never broke. Known as code talkers, they significantly contributed to the success of numerous amphibious landings in the Pacific during World War II.
