Commissioning of the USS Montgomery

The City of Montgomery announced the commissioning of the USS Montgomery (LCS 8), an Independence-class littoral combat ship of the United States Navy to be named for the city, May 12, 2016. The ship was launched from Austal USA's shipyards in Mobile, Alabama in August 2014, and recently completed its sea trials. The ship will be commissioned in September 2016.
