Sheppard AFB's 75th Anniversary
Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, hosted missile maintenance training for more than three decades, from the 1950s to the 1980s, when it was transferred to Vandenberg AFB, Calif. Sheppard still plays a vital role in the Air Force's global deterrence mission, however, providing core nuclear munitions courses to officer and enlisted students. In 2016, the 82nd Training Wing opened field training detachments at Air Force Global Strike Command bases, providing advanced courses in missile maintenance. (Courtesy Photo)
