Rosa Parks Memorial
Col. Eries Mentzer, commander of the 42nd Air Base Wing, speaks during a memorialization ceremony on Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, Dec. 1, 2020, the 65th anniversary of her arrest for refusing to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus. This event marked the start of a 382-day effort to help increase inclusion so that all Airmen here at Maxwell can rise to their best. To help make this possible, Mentzer formed a team of individuals from around the Maxwell-Gunter community called the Freedom to Serve Initiative, whose goal is to help identify and form solutions to obstacles that may be impeding Airmen’s success.
